ONVIF Aims To Simplify Interoperable Product Specs

Users will be able to easily select the appropriate profile that offers interoperability at a specific functional level between units and software that fits their needs. ONVIF’s goal is to continue releasing enhancements to its IP-interoperability specification, Steering Committee Chairman Jonas Andersson says.
“With the Profile concept, end users and systems integrators will find it easier to determine compatibility between conformant products or feature sets,” he says.
“That is regardless of how many different versions of the ONVIF specification have been released.”
Axis Communications, Bosch Security Systems and Sony Corp started ONVIF in 2008. The group’s goal is to ease the integration of network security products with a global standard. It currently has more than 340 member companies and more than 1,100 ONVIF-compliant products on the market.
