Oven Mountain Pumped Hydro Security Systems Tender.
Oven Mountain Pumped Hydro Security – Alinta Energy is developing the Oven Mountain Pumped Hydro Energy Storage Project (OMPS), located between Armidale and Kempsey in the New England Renewable Energy Zone and needs security.
The scheme is an off-river development on an ephemeral tributary of the Macleay River and involves constructing 2 water containment structures to form upper and lower reservoirs.
The project includes an underground power station connected to the reservoirs by tunnels and supporting infrastructure. OMPS will provide up to 900MW of generation capacity with energy storage for up to 8 hours.
There are multiple work packages of relevance to security suppliers and integrators – all with a closing date of December 31, 2025.
These include security services, fire detection and protection services, Cable supply – electrical, instrument, fibre optic and communication, Fencing, cattle grid and gate supply and install, telecommunications, radio, and IT infrastructure, emergency services, first aid and medical, ancillary electrical works including instruments and services, and HVAC services.
Construction is expected to begin in late 2025 and proceed over approximately 5 years. Operational lifespan is projected to exceed 100 years, so this a long-term proposition for security suppliers.
