Pacific Communications, Panasonic Regatta Raises 4608 for RIDBC

RIDBC’S Clifford accepted the cheque at Lavender Bay where security integrators Secom Technical Services, Securetek and ADT Security had gathered after having raised thousands of dollars as part of this annual tradition.
“It’s great to see so many people here once again, supporting this event” said Marcus Vongpraseuth of Panasonic, “We were thrilled to sponsor the event last year and Panasonic couldn’t wait to assist this year. It is a great cause and the donations collected show us how many good people we have in this industry that are willing to lend a hand, and of course, have a sail”.
After the safety briefing each of the three teams took to the harbour for a 2-hour yacht race. The clouds parted, ferries tooted by and although the winds died down in the afternoon Securetek held a firm lead from start to finish and took home the Line Honours trophy.
Secom Technical Services (STS) nudged out ADT Security in the final 300m of the race by stealing their wind to snaffle second place. But the real glory came in the form of a Charity Challenge trophy which STS received for raising the most money per team – a whopping $1837.60 from only seven people. Their team member Roland Zirps also received a Panasonic Lumix camera for bringing in $1000 just on his own, a great effort.
Paul Colyer, Principal of the RIDBC Alice Betteridge School is looking forward to purchasing a soft-touch climbing wall for the gym for children of all ages. The School caters towards learning and development for children who are deaf, blind, deaf/blind and who also have intellectual disabilities. The school relies heavily on non-government funding which is why Pacific Communications and Panasonic have fought hard and raised funds for the School 2 years in a row.
