Genetec Expands SaaS Into Physical Security Operations.

Genetec Expands SaaS Into Physical Security – Genetec has expanded its Security Center SaaS solution with the launch of Operations Center, a work management solution for physical security operations.

Operations Center, available as part of Security Center SaaS or as a standalone product, addresses the operational challenges faced by security operations teams, which often rely on spreadsheets or disconnected work management tools designed for IT or other departments. These fragmented systems can impede their efficiency and collaboration.

Genetec says its Operations Center solves this by integrating security dispatching, work ticketing, and activity tracking into a single platform. This unified approach enables users to manage tasks more effectively, maintain real-time visibility of their operations, and collaborate seamlessly across teams.

“Security operations put in substantial effort to guarantee a secure day, one where everything runs smoothly without anyone noticing yet they frequently lack the necessary tools for effective performance,” said Christian Morin, vice president of product engineering, Genetec.

“Operations Center was created in close collaboration with security professionals to break down silos and enhance security operations, enabling them to work more efficiently and collaborate effectively across the organisation.”

More than just a task management tool, Operations Center is built to enhance every aspect of security operations through an intuitive web and mobile interface that connects teams globally. Tasks and projects are managed on customisable boards that visually represent workflow stages, offering a clear overview of progress and enhancing situational awareness for real-time collaboration.

By providing a detailed checklist for each task, Operations Center helps guide security officers in the field to their next tasks, whether it is dispatching patrols or responding to incidents, while automatically letting their supervisors know about their progress, status, and location.

Supervisors can audit and generate reports on individual incidents, entire shifts, or team performance, with all activities logged in real-time, even off-site. Leadership has immediate access to key performance indicators (KPIs) and statistics through their mobile app, eliminating the need for manual data entry. This streamlined access supports more informed, strategic decision-making and drives continuous efficiency improvements across the department.

Operations Center is fully customisable to meet the unique needs of any organisation. It scales effortlessly, supporting teams of all sizes and adapting to various workflows, processes, and reporting requirements while ensuring privacy by design.

Operations Center will be available globally as of today – September 23, 2024 – as part of the Genetec Security Center SaaS Premium subscription. It will also be available as a standalone solution compatible with Security Center 5.10, through accredited members of the Genetec Channel Partner Program.

There’s more information about Genetec Operations Center here or you can read more SEN news here.

New Pelco Spectra Enhanced 8 Series PTZ From BGW Technologies.

New Pelco Spectra Enhanced 8 Series PTZ – New Pelco Spectra Enhanced 8 Series PTZ camera is now available from BGW Technologies.

According to BGW Technologies Product Manager, Peter Ha, this new Pelco Spectra 8 Enhanced PTZ is a game-changer in the surveillance space.

“If you’re looking for a camera that meets the demands of environments like cities, airports, and critical infrastructure, you can be assured that this camera will exceed your expectations,” Ha said.

“It’s not often I can jump straight into listing the standout features of a camera, but the Spectra Enhanced 8 Series has so many, that its more about where to begin than what to say.

“For a start, the Spectra Enhanced 8 Series PTZ camera offers exceptional image quality, capturing sharp, clear footage,” Ha says

“It was purpose built to perform in really challenging environments. So, whether it’s low-light or high-contrast situations, you’re going to get high-quality images even if the lighting is poor, there is glare, shadows, or reflections”, says Ha.

“Plus, with a 30x optical zoom, the camera can focus on distant objects without losing clarity. This kind of zoom power is crucial for covering wide areas like stadiums or large public spaces.

“But what really makes the Spectra Enhanced 8 Series shine, though, is its PTZ performance. This is not your ordinary PTZ. Pelco has stepped up the game with the new 8 Series. They have created a camera that genuinely moves as intuitively as the operator needs ensuring they never feel overwhelmed by the large area needing to be monitored.”

According to Ha, the advanced and secure technology in the Spectra Enhanced 8 Series gives a 360-degree view of the monitored space, literally making an operator’s job easier.

“You’ll easily be able to track people or vehicles in real-time thanks to its smooth, precise movement too,” Ha explains. “And it has been built tough. “The weather-resistant design ensures it can handle harsh outdoor environments – you just know that this is a camera that will withstand the test of time.”

New Pelco Spectra Enhanced 8 Series PTZ is clever, too.

“It’s packed with advanced analytics, including functions like ‘object tracking and loitering detection’, ‘object crossing beam detection’ and ‘object appears or enters an area detection’,” Ha says. “This camera doesn’t just watch it actively helps prevent threats from going unnoticed.”
