PMT Security Launches Telecommunications & Mobile Remediation

Melbourne-based national security services providers PMT Security, which recently announced a 40 per cent growth curve year-on-year, has announced the launch of a new division – focusing on telecommunications and mobile phone remediation.

The new division will be headed up by experienced DAS design engineer Sam Jamil, who has assumed the role of operations manager for Telecommunications at PMT Security.

Mobile phone remediation is critical for public safety and environments such as retail centres, where mobile phone reception might be compromised or degraded by heavy structures terrain or other factors between the base station and the user. As consumers shift towards increased reliance on mobile phones for making payments, researching and click-and-collect transactions, limited or patchy reception can be a hindrance to effective retailing.

“Mobile remediation is becoming increasingly important in the consumer retail and commercial environments, and it is very exciting to have this opportunity to build up a dynamic new division at PMT Security,” said Sam Jamil.

“The company is growing rapidly due to its vision and willingness to embrace new technologies, and the move to open a telecommunications division is testament to that.”

Jamil’s role will incorporate supervision of a team of project managers, and working closely with RF designers to create mobile-friendly retail spaces. PMT Security foresees mobile remediation as a core growth area over coming years, and expects the division to grow.

PMT Security has launched the division with a major customer win. A leading national retailer has contracted the company’s services across all stores in all states of Australia. PMT Security also has the capability to remotely monitor network coverage and reception in any given area, so is able to track performance and proactively intervene if reception drops below acceptable levels.

“The service we provide can save facility managers and retail corporations hundreds of thousands of dollars, as we can improve reception in a short deployment time, with minimal carrier involvement and infrastructure,” Jamil said.

“This allows us to provide improved services at the lowest cost, enhancing mobile coverage for multiple carriers – whoever the customer chooses to use as their provider.”

According to managing director of PMT Security, Darren Taylor, adding a telecommunications department is a logical step in the evolution of PMT Security.

“We are heavily involved in large retail spaces already, through our core security design and deployment,” Taylor said. “We have systems in place that evaluate and maximise the use of any given space for cameras, access points, alarms and other situational awareness equipment. It makes good sense to enter this space and extend our services to some of Australia’s most well-known companies.”
