Sapio has won a contract to provide CCTV and access control infrastructure and services to Randwick Council in Sydney.
Randwick Council went to tender in January seeking CCTV, alarm system and access control design installation and maintenance, support and monitoring.
As well as securing many buildings and sites with access and alarm systems, CCTV is part of Council’s crime prevention initiative for a safe environment in Randwick City for residents and visitors. The aim of CCTV in Randwick City is to:
* Reduce crime levels and the fear of crime by deterring potential offenders
* Assist in detecting and prosecuting offenders
* Help secure a safer environment for residents and visitors.
As well as CCTV at a Goldstein Reserve in Coogee, there are a number of CCTV cameras in other locations and parks around the council areas, as well as Live Beach Cams at Coogee, Clovelly, Maroubra and Little Bay, and 6 dumping cameras used to detect illegal dumping.
City of Randwick is 36 square kilometres in size and incorporates Chifley, Clovelly, Coogee, Coogee Beach, Kensington, Kingsford, La Perouse, Little Bay, Malabar, Maroubra, Maroubra Junction, Matraville (minor part located in Bayside Council), Phillip Bay, Port Botany, Randwick, South Coogee and University of New South Wales.
The value of the contract was not disclosed.
