Southern Downs Regional Council Seeks SafeCity CCTV Replacement Contractor.
Southern Downs Regional Council Seeks SafeCity – Southern Downs Regional Council has released a tender for the replacement of SafeCity CCTV cameras across the regional centres of Warwick and Stanthorpe in Queensland.
The project calls for a qualified contractor to replace existing public space surveillance cameras forming part of council’s SafeCity network, which supports community safety, incident review and coordination with law enforcement.
From an operational perspective, the work will involve upgrade or replacement of ageing camera infrastructure in key public areas, ensuring continuity of coverage and alignment with current CCTV standards and platform requirements.
SDRC’s SafeCity partners with Queensland Police Service and the system include mobile cameras, body worn cameras and portable and discrete farm cameras, as well as camera points located in the council area.
SafeCity systems typically form part of broader town centre security strategies, supporting police investigations, public safety monitoring and post-incident analysis. All that is going to need to be taken into account with system design, integration, VMS choice and cutover.
Southern Downs Regional Council governs a large regional area in south-west Queensland, including the major population centres of Warwick and Stanthorpe, along with surrounding rural communities. Council operations span community infrastructure, roads, parks, public facilities and local economic development, with CCTV forming part of its approach to managing safety in public spaces and supporting local policing outcomes.
Given the geographic spread and regional context, CCTV systems in this environment are often required to operate reliably across distributed locations, with attention to network connectivity, remote management and maintenance efficiency.
This Southern Downs Regional Council Seeks SafeCity tender closes July 13 – you can learn more here or read more SEN news here.
