Sydney Opera House Seeks Mass Transit Threat Detection Units.

Sydney Opera House Threat Detection – Sydney Opera House has released a tender seeking mass transit threat detection units.

Sydney Opera House is a multi-venue performing arts centre located on the foreshore of Sydney Harbour widely regarded as one of the world’s most and distinctive buildings. The Opera House covers 4.4 acres and hosts 8 million visitors annually.

The building and its surrounds occupy the whole of Bennelong Point on Sydney Harbour, between Sydney Cove and Farm Cove, adjacent to the Sydney central business district and the Royal Botanic Gardens, and near to the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Recent wireless innovations allow for radio-frequency-based intelligent proximity sensors which can be strategically placed around an area to create a 3-dimensional radio field. When an object enters this field, it disturbs the radio frequency and, depending on what frequency parameters have been set, can identify objects based on their size, shape and material composition.

When applied in a security context, RF-based intelligent proximity sensors could help unobtrusively scan visitors who are passing through a transportation hub or busy location to identify potential threats such as firearms, knives, explosives or other dangerous weapons. Once a security alert is triggered for a potential threat, security personnel can be notified and can respond.

This Sydney Opera House Threat Detection tender closes March 20 – you can find out more here or read more SEN tenders here.
