Takex Quad PB-IN200HF Infrared Beams

ACCORDING to
TAKEX’s Tom Kincade, the PB-IN200HF intelligent photoelectric beam is the
company’s flagship product and gives end users and integrators a powerful and
affordable tool to handle bigger sites.

“The Takex PB-IN200HF
is designed to provide line of sight detection with an outdoor range of 200m
and an indoor range of 400m,” Kincade explains.

“The PB-IN200HF
is a completely scalable solution which can offer linear or cross hatch
protection over any distance or height.

“It’s immune to
white light sources up to 50,000LUX and has extremely high immunity to RFI
& EMI. Importantly, the PB-IN200HF carries CE, UL and S.C.E.C. approval.”

According to
Kincade, the PB-IN200HF benefits from the fact Takex has more than 50 years
experience in developing outdoor detection technology.

“We know our
outdoor PIRs and PE beams provide long and dependable service, even in the most
demanding of environments,” he says. “It is for this reason that our outdoor
sensor products are specified by police, military and royal institutions across
the globe.”

While false
alarms are often an issue in challenging external environments, Kincade says
there are various unique features offered by Takex which combat false alarms.

“The first thing
is beam strength,” he says. “All TAKEX outdoor photoelectric beams have an
arrival distance which is 10x greater than the recommended protection distance,
ensuring trouble free operation in a variety of conditions.

“Next there double
pulse modulation. Our unique coupling of a double pulse modulated signal
transmitted to a receiver with a phase lock loop circuit ensures that beams
will effectively ignore any form of interference by way of bright light or IR
flooding.

“This technology
also allows the TAKEX product to perform even when there is only 2 per cent
reception of Infrared signal.”

According to
Kincade, like other Takex beams, the PB-IN200HF is AND gated and this helps
prevent false alarms caused by falling leaves, birds and debris.

“We also have automatic
gain control – the PB-IN200HF automatically adjusts the sensitivity margin
during poor weather conditions,” he says.

“And it’s fitted
with an output which will trigger when the reception at the receiver drops
below 20 per cent. This feature provides early warning that the sensor is
becoming covered in snow, ice or is being subject to extreme weather
conditions. This output also serves as a warning that grass or branches are
growing in the path of the sensor.

A hot topic at
the moment is video verification and Kincade says Takex takes this into
account.

“TAKEX
manufactures camera housings which can be fitted on the tops of our beam towers
to allow for video verification requirements,” he explains. “We offer bespoke
protection for any situation. If video verification is required, our range of
products will fit into any application.”

In terms of new
releases, Kincade says TAKEX will be releasing a new range of improved
photoelectric beams called the PXB range in the near future.

“The PXB range is
modelled off the benchmark PB-IN200HF,” he says. “The improvements are IP65
rating, with unique fabric venting system, high Contrast internal casings for
easy identification of TX and RX units from 200m or more, improved visual sight
(Aiming tool), and increased up & down aiming to -+20°.

“It also has wireless,
an automatic alignment tool, allowing for effortless one man installation, a widened
beam pitch and beam width to drastically reduce any risk of false alarms caused
by falling braches, large birds or snow,” says Kincade.

“The new unit
will also have super low current consumption of only 34mA for the 200m version.”
