Telstra Pushes Back 3G Shutdown Until August 31.
Telstra Pushes Back 3G Shutdown – Telstra has pushed back 3G shutdown plans in a move that gives techs 2 more months to get customers moved across to 4G.
Telstra CEO Vicki Brady said the delay was to allow people to check and upgrade their devices.
If customers have a device that can only use 3G, it won’t be able to connect to Telstra’s network after 31 August 2024. Further, if a mobile device doesn’t have voice over LTE (VoLTE) technology, even if it uses 4G data, it will not be able to make voice calls on the Telstra network after 31 August 2024.

Telstra said not all VoLTE-enabled devices support emergency VoLTE calling, meaning they will not be able to make an emergency call to 000 once 3G closes.
Telstra has released an SMS device checker tool for customers to check if they will be impacted – to access the service SMS 3 to number 3498.
