Tyco Wins Tube Maintenance Contract

Under the latest contract worth over £2.5 million, TIS will provide 24 hour a day Preventative and Call-out maintenance across the Central London CCTV traffic monitoring and surveillance system, including all the cameras in the bus lane enforcement schemes and general traffic cameras for a period of 4 years. This is probably the largest street camera CCTV service contract of its kind ever awarded in the UK. TIS is responsible for maintaining over 700 roadside cameras, both pole and building mounted cameras 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with a response time of between 2 and 5 hours depending on the criticality of the asset. The service contract also includes the video control room and monitoring equipment used by Police, Local Authorities, Emergency services, the media and various monitoring organisations. “We believe we won this latest service contract on the basis of our previous track record and proven level of service on our other TfL contracts. In addition we were able to demonstrate our unique approach to quality and documentation systems which ensure that both cameras and video equipment are maintained and serviced round the clock to provide TfL with the high availability they require to manage traffic in London more effectively,” said Steve Waldron, Operations Director. This new contract follows other major TfL contracts won by Tyco including a recent one for the supply, planning and installation of an additional 200 CCTV cameras and ancillary equipment as part of a significant expansion of London’s CCTV traffic management facilities, including bus lane monitoring and enforcement cameras, traffic flow monitoring cameras etc and automatic numberplate recognition. This contract also included a new fault management system with full documentation and training.
