VIVOTEK Adds Generative AI To VORTEX Cloud Video Management Platform.

VIVOTEK Adds Generative AI To VORTEX – VIVOTEK has updated its VORTEX cloud platform with new generative AI capabilities, pushing further into an agent-driven model of security operations.

The key new feature is Vivotek Think Alert, a visual language model that allows users to create detection rules using plain language rather than traditional configuration. Instead of building analytics step by step, operators can define events like ‘person without helmet’ or ‘vehicle in loading zone’ and have the system detect and trigger alerts automatically.

That shift moves systems away from fixed rules and towards something closer to an operator-directed model, where the system interprets intent and applies it across live video streams. In operational terms, this reduces setup time and makes analytics more capable of proactivity, something that is at the heart of situational awareness.

VORTEX is also expanding its safety detection capability, with built-in analytics for PPE compliance and fall detection. These are targeted at environments where response time matters, including construction, industrial sites, aged care and public spaces. In these applications, automated alerts are designed to shorten the gap between incident and action.

The platform continues to enhance integration as well, bringing video and access control together through partnerships with providers like Brivo, Kisi and PDK – all of which are locally available. The aim is a single operational view, where access events and video can be correlated in real time rather than managed separately via different machines or tabs.

The broader shift from Vivotek’s engineers isn’t just better analytics but the first outlines of agentic security systems, where platforms don’t just detect events but interpret, prioritise and surface what matters operationally.

Agentic surveillance systems will ultimately move from being passive tools in the hands of operators to systems capable of active operations of their own – which is awesome and a bit scary at the same time.
