Permaconn RapidLink 4G Router For CCTV And Access Control Communications On Remote Sites.

Permaconn RapidLink 4G Router For CCTV And Access – Permaconn has released RapidLink, a compact 4G router designed for security cameras and access control applications.

The device is based on the company’s PM54 hardware platform and provides installers a simplified cellular networking option for security installations requiring reliable remote connectivity. This makes it useful on big sites in town without wired comms and a godsend in rural applications.

RapidLink combines 4G routing with integrated SIM management and remote device monitoring through Permaconn Connect, the company’s new cloud-based management platform. Permaconn connect allows installers and service providers to manage multiple routers and SIM cards across different telcos from a single interface.

Through Permaconn Connect providers can monitor device status, manage data plans and view network information across multiple installations. The portal also provides remote device management functions and network analytics intended to support operational oversight of connected systems.

The RapidLink router supports dual-SIM operation using Telstra and Optus networks. You can also add an IP path, creating a triple path communications architecture. Permaconn rates system uptime at 99.99 per cent, which sounds realistic, given its 3-way comms options. Meanwhile, an internal watchdog keeps an eye on performance vectors and alerts providers of issues.

Importantly, RapidLink includes built-in cyber security features – it’s aligned with ISO 27001 security standards and incorporates encryption for data protection and compliance. Secure networking can be established using Permaconn’s managed VPN service or through third-party OpenVPN servers.

RapidLink has a compact form factor and supports DIN rail mounting, as well as magnetic mounting options and the device is designed for installation in security system environments where space and power consumption are limited and continuous operation is required.

Power consumption averages around 1.5W when connected to a cellular network, supporting low-power operation in distributed installations and making the device ideal for remote solar powered applications.

On the comms side, Permaconn provides flexible data plans that allow users to increase, decrease or suspend data services as required. RapidLink supports also automatic data pooling across multiple devices, enabling installers managing larger deployments to share data allowances across multiple routers.
