DTI Seeks AI Perimeter Security To Deliver ANPR And Remote Access Control.
DTI Seeks AI Perimeter Security – Department for Infrastructure and Transport has released a request for quotation for an AI-enhanced perimeter detection system at Dry Creek Rail Car Facility in South Australia.
The proposed system will include AI-powered CCTV or thermal surveillance cameras with ANPR and intrusion detection capability, as well as integrated drones to cover this very large site. The required system will also supply, installation and commissioning of all related software and hardware.
Located about 10km from the Adelaide CBD, Dry Creek Rail Car Facility Dry Creek handles all railcar servicing, maintenance, cleaning, and refuelling while providing stabling capacity for up to 70 railcars, and incorporating state of the art safety systems for workers.
The site includes a maintenance building equipped with 5 individual tracks, incorporating pit and overhead access. A train lift allows for full 3-car set lifting. Dedicated cleaning infrastructure supports automatic train washing, underfloor and roof cleaning, and internal servicing from a purpose-built platform.
The project involves replacement of aging CCTV and perimeter alarm systems, with integration of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) for gate access control. Real-time alerts will be fed into a 24/7 monitoring hub.
Proposed solutions must align with existing departmental security infrastructure. Compliance with Rail Safety National Law, relevant legislation, and accreditation requirements is mandatory.
Optional scope includes evaluation of drone detection and counter-drone measures. A 6-month contract is offered, with a possible extension for an additional six months. Hardware procurement and delivery must be finalised by 30 June 2025.
Pricing and timelines for both hardware and installation must be submitted separately. A mandatory online briefing for interested parties will take place on 13 March 2025 via MS Teams. Attendance is required for bid consideration.
The Department for Infrastructure and Transport is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, expansion, and operation of the statewide road network. Responsibilities extend beyond road transport to include strategic planning, delivery of social and civil infrastructure, marine projects, and public transport services.
The department oversees public transport across South Australia, including bus, train, and tram services. Responsibilities include network design, service scheduling, and branding, all delivered under the Adelaide Metro banner.
Infrastructure development remains a priority. Major projects include upgrades to the North-South Corridor, River Torrens to Darlington (T2D), Fleurieu Connections, and the Freight Highway Upgrade Program.
Additional DTI works involve enhancements to the Southern Expressway at Majors Road and tram grade separation projects aimed at improving public transport reliability and safety.
