The contract for Woodinville, Wash.-based Federal Network Services Inc. with the city of Santa Monica is valued at $1.3 million.
Federal Network Services’ main expertise is in IP networking solutions for government and public sector clients, though it has performed some CCTV installations in the past.
Santa Monica’s city council approved the public CCTV system in February. There will be 123 video surveillance cameras installed overall, including 61 at the Santa Monica Pier and 62 in the Promenade designed to not only foil crime, but also aid in the detection of potential acts of terrorism. Both sites have been the subject of FBI “chatter” of al Qaida targets.
Federal Network Services will also integrate the public video security system with Santa Monica’s existing security network. Among the installer’s partners will be Bosch Security, IndigoVision and Cisco Systems.
