The study by market analysis firm IDC says that network camera shipments are expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 82 per cent between 2004 and 2009, while analog camera shipments will drop by 4 per cent. Chris Chute, senior analyst for IDC, says the success of network cameras lies in new installation opportunities. The IDC study also found that the surveillance and security industries will continue to drive the network camera market; end users will increasingly adopt digital solutions as the price of network cameras declines and their use in corporate network facilities increases; and leaders in the overall surveillance camera market will increasingly push the use of digital solutions.
