CCTV test target Norman says he’s looking forward to getting a clear sense of the performance differences between full body and bullet cameras at SecTech Roadshow in May.

“Bullet cameras are increasingly popular and there are some strong offerings out there but I’m yet to see a bullet I would say is better than a straight full body camera,” said Norman. “For one reason or another, there’s always more motion blur and somewhat lower performance with bullets than full body cameras. We will get a good look at both at SecTech (pre-register here) – I’m not sure which way it’s going to go but Ronnie Rotakin is certain to give us a clearer picture of the best performers this year.”

Norman also reports Sony may bring its barnstorming VB770 on tour in 2017.

“I was speaking with Sony’s Mark Franklin and told him I thought getting the VB770 on stage against the best opposition in the world was too good an opportunity to miss,” Norman said. “We saw the VB770 in Sydney and Melbourne last year but folks in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide missed out.”

Another product that looks likely to make a showing (in Sydney only) alongside the 30x PTZ shootout is CRK’s Dallmeier Panomera.

“We need to work out how we are going to display Panomera – probably as a separate demo,” said Norman. “But it’s too good an opportunity to miss – I’ve never seen Panomera at a really big site.”

SecTech Roadshow, which hits Sydney on May 4, Melbourne May 9, Brisbane May 11, Adelaide May 18 and Perth, May 23. SecTech Roadshow is headlined by a seminar on securing network-connected security devices as well as our big SecTech Camera Shootout – including 30x PTZs in Sydney.
