NZ OSPA Winners Include Advanced, Optic, SecureFlight, SkyCity – New Zealand’s 4th annual Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs) were held on Friday, 27 June 2025, at Ellerslie Racecourse, as part of the ASIS NZ Certification Dinner.
The event brought together professionals from across the country to recognise excellence across 11 categories spanning contract and in-house management, guarding, integration, and training.
Award winners included Ellie Moriarty from SkyCity for Outstanding In-House Security Manager/Director, and Nicholas Dynon from Optic Security Group for Outstanding Contract Security Manager/Director.

FIRST Security was recognised as an Outstanding Contract Security Company, while Advanced Security Group took out the Installer/Integrator category.
The Outstanding Security Team award went to Secureflight’s Freight Screening Team, and the National Training Programme by Michelle Macdonald (Secureflight) was named Outstanding Security Training Initiative.
Optic Security Group featured in multiple categories, also winning Outstanding Security Partnership for its Asset Upgrade Project with Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University Wellington.
Additional individual winners included Shaun Laifone from Global Security as Outstanding Security Officer, Chelsea Wallis from Optic as Outstanding Female Security Professional, and Ruth Tongotongo from Beca Applied Technologies as Outstanding Young Security Professional.

Meanwhile, Kenneth Eccles received the Lifetime Achievement Award and will be inducted into the Security Hall of Fame. All OSPA category winners progress to the Global OSPAs for international recognition.
“The standard of nominations received this year was again exceptionally high, making it a real challenge for the judging panel,” said OSPAs founder, Professor Martin Gill. “All winners and finalists should be immensely proud of their achievements.”
The 2025 awards were supported by sponsors Edith Cowan University (trophies and certificates) and Guardhouse, along with contributions from judging panel members and industry associations.
