The new System 9770 and System 9780 system architectures are specifically designed to accommodate higher camera-monitor density, enabling users to implement large matrix-controlled video surveillance systems that require less space to install and operate.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />

This means a user can view and control up to 4,096 cameras and 512 monitors, all from a single node, in a footprint smaller than ever before possible. The base hardware configuration for the system is comprised of a central processing unit (CC1), matrix switching bay(s) (MXBs) with video input/output modules, and keyboard controllers (KBDs).

In addition to advances in system architecture, firmware updates can be accomplished via flash technology by simply connecting a PC laptop to the serial port of the matrix bay. This increases system serviceability as well as minimizes the time required to update the system.

You can also add additional camera cards to the matrix bay without worrying about firmware compatibility. The system will automatically configure overall system firmware so that system compatibility and functionally is ensured.

Not only can cards be added to the matrix bay, but the user can change system boards, add new boards, replace and/or troubleshoot installed boards-all without having to take the system down. In addition, system status is easier than ever to confirm because of new diagnostic LEDs located on the front of the matrix bay.

Equally important is the new Windows®-based System Manager package onboard every High Density system. The new manager software presents system administrators with a comfortable, familiar environment that makes operating, configuring, and managing large numbers of cameras, monitors, keyboards, and users, easier than ever before. Easy-to-use tools and intelligent configuration wizards speed configuration time for system updates and expansions. Adding devices is almost automatic.

Also new to these Systems are unique thermal trays, which are placed between matrix bays to maximize local thermal stability and help prevent heat buildup at the top of the rack, thereby ensuring bottom to top system cooling.

An optional DVR/VCR management feature allows DVRs and VCRs to be controlled directly from the system keyboards. Compatible DVRs and VCRs can be monitored for operational conditions ensuring continuous recording.

Also optional is a back-up system power supply in the event of a power supply failure. And to ensure continuous CC1 operation, the system also can be optioned with a Hot Switch to ensure system integrity in the event of primary CC1 failure.

For ease of operation, system performance and a minimalist approach to size, these new High Density systems represent a significant advance in video matrix design. And always remember that every system comes pre-configured at the factory to the client’s specifications.

Siemens Puts Visiowave Into Ny Transit

0

UNDER terms of the agreement with NYC Transit’s Department of Subways, VisioWave will provide a significant portion of the security components and Siemens will install the equipment.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />

The proposed VisioWave solution is well suited to mass transit needs and has fulfilled 100 per cent of the technical requirements during the intensive and wide evaluation process.

VisioWave’s SDK (Software Development Kit), will ensure both investment and obsolescence protection. The components of the VisioWave security solution include video streaming and storage, which are processed by VisioWave Evolution HD and Storage HQI RAID units.

The VisioWave Evolution HD system chosen by the New York City Transit was initially designed for one of VisioWave’s customers RATP (<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags” />Paris subway stations and buses) which is deployed over an ATM network.

VisioWave Video Operating System (VOS) and VisioWave Evolution HD is the enterprise solution of choice for security application requirements, especially those of the mass transit sector.

“The New York City Subway is one of the most extensive and complex public transportation systems in the world, and we are pleased to have been chosen to participate in a such a significant project, we look forward to working with our partner Siemens on the integration and deployment of our unique security video solution.” declares David Keene, General Manager of VisioWave in US. “VisioWave has again proven the quality and reliability of its technology” adds Yann Guyonvarc’h, President of VisioWave.

Next Gen Wireless Sensors From Siemens No Batteries

0

The company develops and commercializes a revolutionary technology that combines energy scavenging systems with ultra low power consumption radio technology – ideal for security alarm sensor applications.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />

“There is a quiet revolution going on. Imagine a world where doctors can implant sensors in their patients to constantly monitor chronic conditions. A world where tires are constantly monitored from the inside to make sure their pressure is always in a safe range for the load being carried.

“A world where office partition walls are moved around and the controls for lighting and air-conditioning are just stuck to the walls wherever it is convenient, without a second thought for how to wire them. These are just tiny samples of the kind of applications that become possible when you can create a wireless sensor that has no batteries,” explained Markus Brehler, CEO of Munich-based EnOcean GmbH.

EnOcean’s sensors are unique in combining two advanced technologies. First, they scavenge minute amounts of energy from the environment around them, perhaps from a small temperature change, or the vibration of a movement, or the pressure of someone turning a switch. Then, that energy is used to transmit very short duration, very low energy consumption radio signals containing data collected by the sensor.

The result is sensors that do not need batteries and therefore do not need maintenance. Removing the need for maintenance not only drastically reduces the life-cycle costs of a sensor, it also opens up the possibility of numerous new applications.

Achim Lederle, Investment Director at 3i, commented: “It was the technology’s broad spectrum of application, first and foremost, that convinced 3i to participate in the funding. The far-reaching miniaturization of EnOcean’s systems opens up a wealth of new and highly promising growth markets for battery-less radio technology.”

The building automation industry has been the first to launch and install EnOcean products. Building systems technology manufacturers such as OSRAM, WAGO, Wieland and Beckhoff have all designed EnOcean technology into their portfolio and numerous buildings are being monitored and controlled by this technology today.

Tyco Slashes Us350 Debt

Tyco repurchased $US350 million of its 2.75 percent convertible bonds due 2018. The company paid $US511 million cash to repurchase the bonds, reducing the underlying common shares by 15 million.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />

So far in the quarter, Tyco has used $US861 million cash under a plan to strengthen its balance sheet by reducing debt and making contributions to its defined benefit plans.

Tyco expects to maintain a cash balance of at least $US2 billion as it continues to execute its plan, which could result in additional charges. Tyco repeated its forecast, first given in August, that it will earn US41 cents to US43 cents a share in the fourth quarter.

The estimate excludes restructuring and divestiture programs and charges for the early retirement of debt. Analysts have been expecting fourth-quarter earnings of 43 cents a share, according to Thomson First Call.
