Sylo spells Pelco: New Distribution Agreement Signed

Sylo has a signed a distribution agreement with legendary video surveillance manufacturer, Pelco, and says it plans to use its intensely focused business model to grow the brand in Australia.

SYLO is a unique company, a distributor whose business model revolves around complete focus on the entire product range of a single turnkey brand. While other distribution outfits juggle loyalties, Sylo is different. It dedicates itself to one quality manufacturer and from now on, that manufacturer will be Pelco.

As part of the new alliance the entire Sylo team, from reception through administration to technical and sales, will be fully Pelco trained and certified. And there will be a national physical presence, as Sylo executes its staged rollout of national offices in all major cities.

Seen in a prudential light, this is a good move for Pelco, which scores an Australian partner whose devotion is unambiguous and whose track record is exemplary. Sylo is strong on relationships and gets actively involved from design through to staging and commissioning, supporting its system integrator customers every step of the way. The company takes its support ethos to the nth degree, painstakingly testing every component before shipping. It’s a level of engagement necessary for the long term success of serious applications.

There are advantages for Sylo, too. Pelco’s range is deep, combining excellent HD and thermal camera technologies across multiple product lines, with an established and expanding range of digital storage solutions. Now owned by Schneider Electric, Pelco is still among the strongest brand names in video surveillance. Pelco became a byword for quality, innovation and service after it launched a 100 per cent customer satisfaction guarantee in the late 1980s and then stood by its pledge for decades.

Such was their devotion to the brand, staff were sometimes seen weeping on Pelco production lines over the misalignment of stickers on packaging. But along with the emotion there was serious innovation, too. For 15 years, Pelco’s Spectra was the leading PTZ dome in the world. The company’s latest Sarix Surevision cameras continue the tradition, combining excellent performance with the industry’s most flexible SDK.

According to Sylo founder and CEO, Mark Hartmann, the new partnership represents a great opportunity for Sylo.

“We are thrilled to offer the security industry and our system integrator partners a range of products that has the positive reputation and strong brand-loyalty of Pelco,” said Hartmann.

“Sylo will continue to deliver brilliant custom, ‘security by design’ to security integrators and I have no doubt the combination of the Pelco product range and the single brand focus of Sylo Professional Services will lead to great success.

“We certainly see ourselves as different from other Pelco distributors, who also support competing brands. Sylo will be entirely focussed on the success and the support of Pelco. We will focus all sales, technical and administration staff on this single complimentary line of products,” Hartmann said.

“Our singular goal is to provide end users with a complete, tailored solution, combining Pelco’s quality range with the pinnacle of network hardware.”

Under the terms of the agreement, Sylo will represent the entire Pelco product range throughout Australia and the Pacific Islands. Core Sylo staff received product training at Sylo’s Brisbane Head Office in October and comprehensive training on Pelco products and technology is ongoing. Sylo will cease all sales of Avigilon in December 2013.
