Tasmania Police Plans Statewide Biometric System Replacement – Tasmania Police is preparing to tender for a new statewide biometric identification and custody imaging system, with the Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management seeking an experienced supplier to deliver a commercial-off-the-shelf solution.
According to the advance tender release, replacement system will support the secure capture, quality assurance, transmission and storage of fingerprints, palm prints, custody photographs and licence application photographs across Tasmania.
The department requires a system that can interoperate with relevant national biometric systems while meeting Tasmania Police’s operational, investigative, evidentiary and legislative requirements.
The proposed procurement covers biometric identification and custody imaging, with an emphasis on secure and reliable handling of identification data across the state. Suppliers will need demonstrated experience delivering comparable systems.
