Team Theissen Digs Deep For Tour de Kids

According to Theissen, Tour de Kids is a self-paced cycling challenge for the month of September to ride any designated distance to raise money for sick kids at the Starlight Children’s Foundation an individual or part of a team.

Founded in 2001 by 4 friends who have a passion for cycling and wanted to help others, Tour de Kids has raised $A8.5M and helped 218,000 sick kids to date and Theissen said that while he’s known of Starlight for a number of years and was touched by its focus and how help is delivered to kids.

“As this year has been a challenging one for so many people on so many fronts, I wanted to do something different and raise some money for Starlight,” Theissen said.

“My goal is to put a smile on the kids dials, to help them forget they’re sick for a while and have some fun with the crew of the Starlight foundation.

“The target has always been 1000 kilometres and the fundraising goal got peddling at $1000 and I kept on increasing the target as the dollar value was met – to date I’ve completed just over 851km and have raised $15,000.

“I can’t describe how I feel about the donations received from friends, family, work colleagues, system integrators, competitors, consultants and end users – I’m just delighted by the generosity of the industry – I had no idea we could make this big a difference to the lives of sick kids.”
