Idemia Splits Identity Into 3 Divisions To Simplify Operations.
Idemia splits identity – Authentication developer Idemia has divided into 3 divisions: Idemia Secure Transactions, Idemia Public Security and Idemia Smart Identity.
The reorganisation by Idemia recognises the different client requirements and regulations surrounding core authentication markets, and comes after Idemia’s owner listed the company for sale last year with a price tag of $US6.5 billion.
Idemia Secure Transactions (IST) has a global workforce of approximately 10,000 employees across more than 50 countries and will be managed by Philippe Oliva. Its focus will be advanced payment solutions, mobile payment services, 5G and Quantum-Safe 5G technology and cloud-based digital connectivity.
Matthew Cole, previously executive vice president of Idemia’s public security and identity business unit, will lead Idemia Public Security (IPS), with more than 3800 employees.

Idemia Smart Identity (ISI), which provides end-to-end systems for civil ID, physical IDs, and digital identity credentials, will be managed by former VP of European operations for the public security and ID business unit, Antoine Grenier. ISI has a team of 1900 across 40 countries.
Of the 3 divisions, Idemia Public Security and Idemia Smart Identity are the divisions most closely aligned with the electronic security industry.
According to Matthew Cole, Idemia Public Security is committed to shaping a future in which biometric technology is used for good in the fields of public security and identity, travel and transportation, and access control.
IPS offerings include iris, fingerprint and facial recognition authentication technology and include the TSA’s Credential Authentication Technology (CAT2) machines.
“Our combination of innovative technologies and a privacy-first approach enables us to deliver the best solutions for governments and corporate organizations looking to seamlessly and securely manage access, travel, and the flow of people,” Cole said.
