CopperString Seeks Security Solutions During $5 Billion Construction.

CopperString seeks security solutions – Copper String 2023 is undertaking a market evaluation to identify suitably qualified local and regional businesses to provide security services to the massive project.

The Powerlink-led CopperString 2032 project, involves building 840km of new electricity transmission line from just south of Townsville in the Burdekin region to Mount Isa that will connect Queensland’s North West Minerals Province (NWMP) to the National Electricity Market.

Approximately 200km of additional transmission line will also be required to connect new renewable generators to CopperString 2032. This is the largest ever economic development project in North Queensland, and one of the largest expansions to the transmission network in Australia.

  • Implement security measures, such as surveillance systems and access controls, to safeguard the transmission line infrastructure from vandalism and theft

  • Conduct regular patrols of the project site to ensure that all security protocols, identify any potential security risks
  • Access Control: controlling access to the project site (e.g., monitoring entry and exits) including monitoring who enters and exits the site and ensuring that all personnel have the proper clearance and credentials
  • Action plan for any security incidents on site (e.g., theft, vandalism, safety hazards) and report to relevant authorities
  • Provide security training to project personnel for any project incidents (that may happen)
  • Provide regular security reports (e.g., conducted activities, any project incidents)
  • Maintain security equipment on project site (e.g., camera, alarms)
  • Work with project team to develop emergency plans and procedures in case of a security incident or other emergency
  • Ensure that the project is in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards regarding security.
