Ajax Adds Line Crossing Detection – Ajax Systems has introduced Line crossing detection, a new video analytics feature that allows compatible Ajax cameras to detect people, vehicles and animals crossing configurable virtual boundaries within the camera image.
Rather than responding to general movement across a scene, Line crossing detection allows users to draw virtual lines within the camera field of view and define the direction and object types that should generate an event.
When the specified object crosses a line in the nominated direction, the system can send a notification or raise an alarm while recording associated footage to the archive.
The system can also activate Ajax sirens when a line crossing event occurs, allowing video analytics to generate an immediate response at the protected site.
Up to 4 independent detection lines can be configured for each camera, with individual directions and conditions. This allows an operator to monitor specific entry points, boundaries or exit routes while disregarding legitimate movement elsewhere in the scene.
Object classification can be configured for people, vehicles or animals. For example, a line protecting a restricted area could be configured to generate an event when a person crosses into the area while ignoring vehicles, animals or movement in the opposite direction.
According to Ajax, each event identifies which virtual line was crossed and the type of object responsible, giving users additional information when assessing an alarm or notification.
The feature is configured through Ajax apps and requires no additional detection hardware. Ajax recommends positioning detection lines away from the edges of the camera image and making lines sufficiently long to provide reliable detection.
Line crossing detection is supported by compatible Ajax wired cameras running firmware version 2.569 or later and NVRs running firmware version 2.565 or later. Note that Ajax DoorBell and IndoorCam do not support Line crossing detection.
Users also require Ajax Security System 3.52 for iOS and Android, Ajax PRO: Tool for Engineers 2.52 for iOS and Android, Ajax Desktop 5.52 for Windows and macOS, or Ajax PRO Desktop 5.52 for Windows and macOS.
