“THE indoor AXIS P5522 and the outdoor-ready AXIS P5522-E are aggressively priced pan/tilt/zoom network cameras that are ideal for price-conscious business owners,” says Wai King Wong, country manager ANZ, Axis Communications.
“The cameras are easy to install and allow any owner or manager to pan and tilt the cameras to see a 360° area and zoom in 18x with autofocus for detailed and sharp images. The cameras also have day and night functionality, which means that they automatically change to black and white mode in low light conditions for clearer results.”
Besides the day and night functionality, the surveillance cameras offer a wide dynamic range, which enables objects in both dark and light areas of a scene to be visible. The PTZ dome cameras support video resolutions up to D1 (720×480 in 60 Hz, 720×576 in 50 Hz).
They can simultaneously send multiple video streams in H.264 and/or Motion JPEG that are configured at different frame rates or resolution. H.264 greatly optimises bandwidth and storage use without compromising image quality, while Motion JPEG is supported for increased flexibility.
The indoor AXIS P5522 has an IP51 rating for protection against dust and dripping water, enabling the camera to function even when a sprinkler system is activated. The outdoor AXIS P5522-E has IP66 and NEMA 4X ratings for protection against rain, snow, sun and dust.
No additional enclosures are needed, which saves time and money, and minimises installation mistakes. Both indoor and outdoor models are powered using High Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3at), which further simplifies installation since only one cable is required for power, video and PTZ controls. A High PoE midspan is supplied with the cameras.
AXIS P5522/-E cameras also offer Axis’ unique Advanced Gatekeeper functionality, which enables the camera to automatically move to a preset position to capture, for instance, a vehicle license plate or a person’s face when motion is detected in a pre-defined area.
When an optional multi-connector cable is used, the indoor AXIS P5522 enables users to remotely listen in and communicate with, for example, intruders, and can trigger an alarm when unusual sounds are detected. The optional cable also allows the indoor camera to connect to external devices such as sensors and relays to, for example, turn on lights or lock doors. AXIS P5522/-E cameras have a built-in SD/SDHC memory card slot that enables recordings to be stored locally.
The cameras are supported by AXIS Camera Station video management software, as well as the industry’s largest base of application software through Axis’ Application Development Partner Program. The AXIS Q7414 will be available in Q2 2011 via Axis’ Australia distributors with pricing to be advised upon application.
