Camera-Based Fire Detection System

Camera-Based Fire Detection System – Green Triangle Fire Alliance is seeking a camera-based fire detection and notification system.

Green Triangle Fire Alliance (GTFA) is comprised of 9 plantation owners and managers that collectively manage more than 95 per cent of the Green Triangle softwood and hardwood plantation estates.

Camera-Based Fire Detection System

In 2020 a FireHawk camera was installed on the Bluff communication tower at Tantanoola, between Millicent and Mount Gambier, in an Australian-first to test the capability of computer-aided fire detection and risk management system.

Early results of the trial showed the system could detect fire up to 30km away. The camera provided a panoramic scan of the landscape, streaming up-to-the minute 24-hour surveillance.

Using artificial intelligence and tailored algorithms, the trial system sent alerts to fire managers’ mobile phones when smoke is first identified, allowing for an immediate ground or aerial response.

Green Triangle Fire Alliance (GTFA)

Now the GTFA is seeking proposals from suitably qualified and experienced parties to supply and operate a camera-based fire detection system to provide early fire detection throughout south west Victorian and south east South Australia.

The GTFA is proposing to enter contracts with a suitable partner for a 3-year term.

This tender closes on January 27, 2023 – contact Anthony Walsh at anthony@gtfih.com.au to register your interest.
