Cornerstone Security Consulting Offered For Sale

Cornerstone Security Consulting Offered For Sale, Offering An Excellent Expansion Proposition For Independent Security Consultancies.

Cornerstone Security Consulting Offered For Sale – Cornerstone Security Consulting, an independent security consultancy established by the late Gary Howarth, has been offered for sale, presenting an opportunity to acquire an established consultancy with operations in Sydney and Brisbane, an existing client base, current projects and established industry relationships.

Established in 2016, Cornerstone specialises in independent electronic and physical security design, engineering and risk management. Its capabilities include CCTV and access control design, intrusion detection, perimeter security, biometrics, hostile vehicle mitigation, risk and threat assessment, security audits, tender development and project management.

The consultancy has worked across government, infrastructure, commercial property, health, education and financial sectors. Selected high profile clients include Queensland Parliament Service, QEII Hospital, Orica, Great Southern Bank, Metro South Hospital and Health Service, Sydney Grammar School, SEQ Water and Skytower Building Management Group.

Cornerstone’s published project history also includes security audit and risk assessment work for pharmaceutical facilities, security technology and operations reviews for financial organisations and development of security technology transition plans for major banking environments.

Howarth was a respected figure in the Australian and UK security industries whose career extended more than 40 years. He began his career as an apprentice with Wormald Security and subsequently worked in Australia and the UK, including more than 10 years living and working in Britain. During this time, Howarth worked as a technical security consultant supporting the UK Government Critical Infrastructure Protection team responsible for high-risk facilities and critical national infrastructure.

Howarth’s technical background covered the end-to-end design, delivery and project management of large electronic and physical security systems. His experience included corrections and justice facilities, financial institutions, water treatment plants, public spaces and high-rise buildings, with specialist expertise in hostile vehicle mitigation and vehicle security checkpoints. He held a diploma in security and risk management and a security consultant licence Class 2ABC.

Following his death, industry colleague, Chris Kelly described Howarth as a highly respected member of the Australian and UK security industries whose “character, integrity, and friendship touched the lives of so many of us”, and noted that Howarth had earned the respect of clients, colleagues and competitors during a career spanning Wormald Security and consultancy roles in Australia and Britain.

Howarth’s security consultancy, Cornerstone, reflects Howarth’s personal integrity, with independence central to its operating model. The consultancy is vendor-neutral and does not represent manufacturers, distributors or security contractors, allowing it to develop specifications and tender documentation independently of product selection.

Importantly for prospective purchasers, the sale includes the Cornerstone name and goodwill, website and domain, client relationships, relevant business records, project information and current opportunities, subject to due diligence and final agreement.

An established digital presence at cornerstonesecurity.com.au is also included. This website contains extensive specialist material covering security engineering, CCTV, physical security, risk and threat assessment, hostile vehicle mitigation and previous projects.

According to the sale documentation, the site has historically generated new client enquiries, with website analytics and historical enquiry records available to prospective purchasers during due diligence.

A supporting spreadsheet covering Cornerstone’s client and project history over the past 5 years has also been prepared, including clients, projects and project values. Invoice and revenue records, relevant project documentation, client correspondence, current project information and other business records are available as part of the due diligence process.

The preferred sale structure comprises an upfront purchase price reflecting the business, goodwill, client relationships and current opportunities, with scope for an additional performance-based component linked to fees subsequently generated from existing Cornerstone client relationships.

Cornerstone Security Consulting remains an active Australian private company, with its current ABN registration dating from August 2017. Howarth’s daughter Olivia has been involved with Cornerstone clients and business affairs over an extended period and can assist with introductions, background on existing relationships and transfer of relevant records and information during an agreed handover period.

Expressions of interest can be directed to Cornerstone Security Consulting senior associate Peter Waters on 0403 326 609 or secure@thewatersedge.biz, or business manager Olivia Howarth at olivia@cornerstonesecurity.com.au.
