SwiftConnect Acquires HID SAFE Platform, Which Combines Physical Access Governance With SwiftConnect Cloud.

SwiftConnect Acquires HID SAFE Platform – SwiftConnect has acquired HID’s Workforce Business Unit, including the HID SAFE identity lifecycle management platform, combining physical access governance with SwiftConnect’s cloud-based access control infrastructure.

The acquisition emerges out of an existing technology partnership. SwiftConnect’s AccessCloud connects identity providers, mobile credentials and physical access control systems across multiple locations. Meanwhile, HID SAFE provides the governance layer, automating access requests, approvals, policy enforcement and revocation based on changes within HR, IT and security systems.

The combined platform manages identity and access lifecycle from authentication to access management, as well as sorting out permission changes over time – this is all time consuming stuff for staff tasked with system management.

Matt Kopel, co-CEO of SwiftConnect, said access should be invisible for users.

“They are easily credentialed, they walk in, and nothing gets in their way,” he said.

According to Kopel, adding HID SAFE brings policy, approval and compliance requirements into the same platform as physical access control.

“Policies, approvals, and compliance requirements will now all live in the same platform as the experience,” he explained.

“Every person will get exactly the access they are entitled to, and just tapping to access buildings, doors, floors, and resources will be effortless.”

Meanwhile, Björn Lidefelt, EVP and head of HID, said the HID SAFE solution had been developed over more than 2 decades.

“HID SAFE has earned the trust of the world’s most security-driven organizations for more than 2 decades,” Lidefelt said.

“Great technology deserves the space to reach its full potential, and SwiftConnect is the right partner to take it there.”

Post-acquisition, existing SwiftConnect customers will gain access to physical access governance capabilities integrated with AccessCloud, while HID SAFE customers will gain access to SwiftConnect’s cloud-based connected access infrastructure.

HID will retain a minority, non-controlling interest in SwiftConnect following completion of the acquisition, while SwiftConnect will remain independently controlled and managed by its existing leadership.
