DVTel Wins Project Of The Year at IFSEC 2010

Renovations and
upgrades at were made in preparation for the June 2010 World Cup when South
African authorities expect passenger traffic to total 40 million with the
majority of this traffic passing through the three largest airports in the
region.

DVTel’s iSOC
platform was chosen because of its flexibility in transitioning legacy analogue
equipment while accommodating the latest IP technology, making it highly cost
competitive while delivering superior performance. DVTel’s iSOC software
manages over 2000 cameras – a combination of IP cameras and encoder technology
for legacy cameras.

Video is being
used for security surveillance and non-security applications thus enabling the
technology to be used in multiple roles.
For example, car park cameras are now also used for car counting
applications to show airport users where parking spaces exist.

DVTel’s SceneTracker
software is used to stitch together multiple cameras in both the Immigration
area to show when the area is particularly busy and in the Airside control area
to give an overall view of the Aircraft docking area. Other integrations
include car counting, a seamless integration of an existing analogue matrix
switch, and expanded video analytics.

“Airport
management was very clear that everything security was going IP and it needed
to go on the IT infrastructure,” said David Petrook, DVTel managing director
for EMEA.

“Our ability to
handle existing analogue legacy equipment preserved the airport’s investment
and our level of service, support, and technology assured the airports we would
be there through the two to three year transition to advanced IP technology.

“We are delighted
that this project was recognised by the industry and proud to be a part of the
esteemed group of winners showcased on Monday night.”
