Free NBN Fibre Upgrade – You may be aware of the 2024 FREE Fibre upgrade the government has recently offered. If you are interested, applications have started being actioned.

Another 2 million Aussie homes will now be able to have an optic fibre cable installed directly into their lounge room or study, rather than suffering from slow copper speeds on the last few metres.

This fibre to the premises (FTTP) service is an initiative of the NBN, which will see them cable an optic fibre all of the way to your house, allowing you to plug it directly into your modem. This is a big deal.

On average, the cost, if you had to pay for this, the cost would be upward of $10,000 for an average suburban house or apartment install. This will not only add value to your property and give you stable, fast internet, but it will also give you access to higher-end services such as IPTV, multiple people and devices online at once, faster downloads and uploads, including working from the cloud and no latency gaming.

This was only recently available in February 2024, but the applications are now fully open and processed quickly.

SEN News applied for a service to examine the process, and we can say that the whole process was efficient, fast and effective. After application approval, which was instant, we were booked for an inspection of the premises the following week. An NBN technician arrived on time and made the necessary checks to ensure compatibility. The following week, we were live with Gigabit Ethernet directly to the rack. Very impressive indeed.
