London Overground goes Nextiva

London Overground goes Nextiva

LONDON
Overground’s Nextiva solution is being delivered in partnership with Amey,
itself a key partner of LOROL and Network Rail. LOROL – a joint venture between
MTR Corporation of Hong Kong and Deutsche Bahn AG of Germany – was formed to
create a world class transportation system for London.

Verint will now
deploy more than 1,500 Nextiva IP cameras integrated with its Nextiva Video
Management software. The solution will be designed to enhance passenger safety,
deter vandalism and crime and improve the overall passenger rail travel
experience.

The Nextiva
solution is set to be integrated with a series of platform-based passenger Help
Points across the network of stations, with video managed from a central
Control Room in London. LOROL selected Nextiva last August based on its proven
application in the rail industry.

According to
Alistair Shutler, software manager, consulting for Amey, Verint demonstrated
the ability to provide end-to-end IP solutions and integrate seamlessly with
other technologies on the network.

“The technical
understanding of IP and CCTV that Verint has demonstrated, combined with the
quality, robustness and reliability of the technology on offer, were really key
factors in its appointment,” he said.

Meanwhile
managing director of Verint Systems in the EMEA region David Parcell, said
Verint was delighted to be working on the project.

“Our expertise in
this sector, working with some of the biggest names in the rail industry across
Europe, has been recognised by London Overground Rail Operations.”

The great
strength of Verint’s Nextiva Video Management Applications is their ability to bring
disparate enterprise systems together, combining security and enterprise data
with mission-critical video, and apply powerful analytics to pinpoint significant
events, images and data.

Nextiva’s
software applications include Nextiva IntelliFlow – a powerful analytics module
providing automatic event notification, video distribution and process
activation in response to events and behaviours, as well as Nextiva
IntelliStream – which gives automatic distribution of live and recorded video
to monitors, video walls, PDAs and computers across dispersed user locations.

Other
applications includes Nextiva Review, which enables flexible live and recorded
video viewing from a PC client or web browser interface and Nextiva Case
Management, which transforms case-related video and data captured from a
variety of sources into a searchable database.

“The technical
understanding of IP and CCTV that Verint has demonstrated, combined with the
quality, robustness and reliability of the technology on offer, were really key
factors in its appointment”
