    According to
Pacom’s Rob Meachem, the win is recognition of Pacific Communications’ and the
Hills Security Group’s effort over the past 12 months as well as a culmination
of decades of hard work. The win is a big deal for Pacom, given Pelco opened up
    its distribution channels last year.

    “We have been
side by side with Pelco for 3 decades and to still be winning these awards is a
clear testament to our team of people and our loyal Pacom customer base that is
    recognised by Pelco,” Meachem says.

    The Pacom/Pelco
relationship is one of the oldest business relationships in the video
surveillance industry and the recent win shows that relationship is as dynamic
    as it has ever been.

    “Pacom’s
relationship with Pelco is more than 3 decades old and goes back to the days
when Pacific Communications first brought Pelco products to Australia,” Meachem
explains. “Another highlight of the relationship between the 2 companies dates
to the Pacom Matrix Switch back in the 90’s.

    “And we still
today have some of the legends of the Australian surveillance industry working
for us from those very early years,” Meachem says. “These guys include Co Smit,
Adi Kirsch and Graham Rowe to name a few.

    “What is just as
pleasing is that even with all the changes over the years Pelco still treats us
as their number one platinum partner and I guess this award is recognition of
    our success.”

    Meachem puts the
award down to an all-team approach.

    “From the
co-operation with Pelco to the massive stock holdings, our approved self service
centre, and the inherent knowledge of the product by our great people is the
    key,” Meachem says.

    “More than 36 per
cent of our staff has been with Pacific Communications for 10 years or more and
as such this continuity of staff means continuity of service to customers,” he
    explains.

    “This consistency
is a huge key to our success as a business and our relationship with suppliers
like Pelco. If I had to pick some people as being pivotal to the relationship
with Pelco, then I would say Co, Ardi and Graham. They have been in it from the
    start.

    “It has also been
great to get strong support from Pelco’s HQ in the U.S. and from Terry
Yallouris at Pelco in Australia, whose team has made a special effort to
    support Pacom.”

    Importantly,
Meachem says Pacom will continue to work hard to grow its Pelco business.

    “After more than
30 years of success and given we are winning these types of awards and winning
them in a year that included the GFC we will not change our successful
    formula,” Meachem says.

    “As a distributor
of products our aim is to grow – that’s because growth creates opportunities
    for all stakeholders.”
