Prince Charles Hospital Seeks CCTV, Duress – A major engineering infrastructure replacement project at The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane will include new external CCTV and duress systems.
Security installers and integrators need to bear in mind that this opportunity is oblique – you’ll need to pitch to the project’s principal contractors to get in on the action.
The scope of works involves replacement of essential electrical, standby generation and mechanical infrastructure serving the operational hospital campus.
For security contractors, the relevant element of the scope is the provision of street lighting, external CCTV and external duress systems associated with new external plant infrastructure and changes to roads and footpaths.
The broader project includes new external generator compounds and plantrooms, communications infrastructure, extensive new electrical distribution, civil works, underground services and integration with existing hospital systems. The works will be undertaken across a live clinical campus operating 24 hours a day, with staged shutdowns and temporary systems required to maintain essential services.
Detailed design is being undertaken by JHA Consulting Engineers, with schematic documentation to be followed by developed design during the procurement process. The eventual principal contractor will be responsible for finalising the design for construction, installation and commissioning and managing subcontractors.
The public release doesn’t provide CCTV camera numbers, duress point numbers, preferred manufacturers, platforms or details of integration with existing security systems. These requirements are likely to become clearer as the design and procurement process progresses – you’ll need to do some legwork work on this one.
