WA Police Plans Electronic Fingerprint Capture Upgrade – Western Australia Police Force has floated a future tender for new electronic fingerprint capture devices as part of a program to expand and modernise its existing fingerprint capture system across the state.
WA Police intends to appoint a single contractor or establish a panel of contractors to provide electronic fingerprint capture capability under 2 categories.
Category 1 covers expansion of the existing on-site electronic fingerprint capture devices, while Category 2 covers the provision of mobile electronic fingerprint devices for use in the field. Respondents will be able to tender for either category or for the complete requirement.
Proposed solutions must demonstrate interoperability with the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System, including NAFIS NextGen.
Equipment must also comply with published American National Standards Institute/National Institute of Standards and Technology biometric standards under ANSI/NIST-ITL 1-2025.
