Assemble has deployed Salto Systems cloud-based key-as-a-service (KS) solution to manage access to building and shared amenities at its 393 Macaulay Road, Kensington development, in Melbourne, Victoria.
The Kensington project comprises 73 apartments and uses SALTO XS4 One smart locks and wall readers to handle access. With Salto, there’s no need for expensive cabling, with system events transferred across the network as residents badge their fobs to access the building and its shared facilities, including the main door, lift lobby and stairs, lending library, parcel room and rooftop.
Opening hours are also managed via scheduling within Salto, as are operational amenities, such as maintenance workshops, cleaners’ rooms, storerooms, riser and communication rooms. Meanwhile, the next stage of the implementation will see the launch of a dedicated Assemble app, giving tenants the option to replace their fob with a digital key on their smartphone.

The Assemble app also helps to create a connection among residents, an important factor when creating resilient communities.”
Central to Assemble needs was an electronic access control system that would integrate into its property management platform and the Assemble app.
“Salto’s ability to integrate with our app was important, so that we could consolidate the workflow,” Moore said. “We were keen to eliminate ‘app fatigue’ for residents, by not having a separate app for their digital key.”
