Takex FS-2000E Flame Sensor Features 10m Range And Reports Alarm Events Via Fire Or Security Panels.
Takex FS-2000E Flame Sensor – Takex FS-2000E is a flame sensor designed to detect ultraviolet radiation from flames and initiate an alarm through an internal sounder and external output.
The sensor detects flames at distances of up to 10m through an angle of view of 120 degrees and can be connected via that output to a fire or security control panel.
The FS-2000E detects ultraviolet radiation in the 185 to 260nm wavelength range. The 120-degree detection area can be adjusted horizontally by 25 degrees through the base and vertically by 30 degrees in 4 steps through the sensor head.
Takex rates that 10m figure against a 7cm gas lighter flame on the fastest timer setting, and notes that the detection area grows with the size of the flame and how long it burns. A sensitivity switch offers a standard setting and an L setting that halves detection distance, which Takex suggests if the sensor proves unstable on standard.
Detection timing can be selected at 0.2, 1, 6 or 30 seconds, allowing the sensor to be configured for different applications. An alarm memory identifies which sensor has activated, with the memory LED flashing for 3 minutes before remaining illuminated for 47 minutes.
The sensor’s Form C dry-contact relay output for connection to fire or security control panels and can also be used trigger warning devices or drive PTZs in CCTV systems. There’s a separate Form B tamper output operates when the cover is removed.
Multiple sensors can be wired in series on a normally-closed loop to a single panel input. At 12VDC, Takex gives power runs of up to 150m on 0.65mm cable, 250m on 0.8mm and 375m on 1.0mm, divided by the number of sensors on the run, while the alarm circuit itself can extend to 1km on 0.65mm. The alarm contact releases 2 seconds after the flame goes out, and the sounder and red LED stop after 10 seconds.

The internal alarm sounder produces more than 80dB at 1m and can be disabled if not required. In terms of operations the FS-2000E operates from 10 to 30VDC with non-polarity power input and draws up to 25mA in standby or 75mA during alarm with the sounder operating.
This sensor is designed for indoor ceiling or wall mounting, measures 120mm in diameter and weighs approximately 150g, making it a compact choice for domestic, SMB or larger applications.

Takex is clear about what the FS-2000E is not. It responds to the ultraviolet in flame, not to smoke or heat, and the manual describes it as neither a fire, heat nor smoke detector. It won’t see smouldering material, burning charcoal, a cigarette, an electric heater or a flame behind glass or clear plastic, and it can be set off by other ultraviolet sources, including halogen and mercury-vapour lamps, germicidal lamps, welding, sparking motors, sunlight and lightning.
That shapes where it goes. Takex says not to install it in direct or reflected sunlight, in humid spaces such as bathrooms, or anywhere flame is used routinely. It recommends a weekly operation check, another whenever furniture in the room is moved, and cleaning the detector elements with alcohol rather than detergent or solvent.
