Rapid Alarms Combines iLOQ And Ajax – Perth-based security installer Rapid Alarms has completed a commercial security upgrade combining iLOQ battery-free, wire-free access control with Ajax monitored intrusion detection and site evacuation systems.
The project involved a commercial facility with limited existing security infrastructure, including no dedicated evacuation system and limited ability to monitor and audit personnel movements. The age of the building also restricted cabling pathways, making conventional hardwired access control difficult to install.
Rapid Alarms director James Taylor said the iLOQ system allowed electronic access control to be introduced without cabling to the doors.
“By replacing existing mechanical locks on strategically selected doors with iLOQ digital locking technology, we were able to introduce centrally managed electronic access control without running a single cable to the doors,” Taylor said.
The iLOQ system, developed in Finland, provides battery-free electronic locking, centrally managed credentials, access event logging and the ability to grant or revoke access without changing physical locks. The system also provides a scalable platform for future expansion.

Alongside iLOQ, Rapid Alarms also installed wireless Ajax intrusion detectors, 24/7 professional alarm monitoring, wireless evacuation activation buttons and internal wireless sirens. System management and remote notifications are provided through the Ajax platform.
The combined installation provides monitored intrusion detection, evacuation alerts and centrally managed access control without the extensive cabling normally associated with a comparable hardwired installation.
According to Taylor, the integration allows introduction of required security and safety functions while working within the limitations of the existing building and the completed system provides improved control and auditing of personnel access, monitored security events and site-wide evacuation notification, the flexibility to expand.
