Trace 4G GPS Module For Ajax – Locally manufactured in Melbourne Trace 4G GPS module AGPSBLK is a compact location-tracking device designed to integrate directly with Ajax security systems, providing real-time visibility of mobile assets.

Engineered to support both Ethernet and cellular connectivity, the module delivers GPS location data during panic events and supports user access through the Ajax app without requiring third-party software.

Intended for reliable use in mobile environments, the module includes an active GPS antenna and can function across a wide range of cellular bands, including NB-IoT, LTE, 2G, 3G, and 4G. It supports microSIM and operates between 824 MHz and 2.17 GHz. The device is housed in a compact enclosure measuring 80 x 65 x 34mm, with operating temperatures from -10°C to 50°C, and is built using industrial-grade FR-4 TG155 4-layer PCB construction. Charge, network, and status LEDs are included for visual feedback.

The Trace GPS Module requires an Ajax Hub and an active user account. The 12V DC power supply connects via terminal block, with backup provided by a 3.7V, 3000mAh rechargeable LiFePo battery delivering up to 14 hours of operation. Typical data consumption is around 400MB per month at a 15ms polling rate.

Trace By Tested is a Melbourne-based manufacturer headed up by Nathan Kilaris. Mildura-raised, Kilaris moved to Melbourne at age 18 to undertake an electrical apprenticeship and, with some encouragement from the DAS and Ajax teams, he hasn’t looked back.

“Throughout my apprenticeship learned how to install and program various security systems and gained both my cabling and security installers license along with my electrical qualifications,” Kilaris said.

According to Kilaris, during COVID he decided to start his own electrical and security business and his Hills account became a DAS account when Hills was acquired by Dicker Data.

“My local DAS branch is Tullamarine, and I would go there for my security install needs,” Kilaris said. “When DAS started stocking AJAX, DAS sales rep Jared Smith would continuously push for me to try it, so after some hesitation I decided to sit a training day and purchase an AJAX system to play with. I was hesitant about wireless systems – many I’d seen prior to this were rubbish.”

Despite his concerns about wireless, Kilaris was impressed with the performance of the Ajax product.

“I started doing a few installs for clients and also installed a system in my car, as it had been broken into and my tools had been stolen,” Kilaris explained.

“With an Ajax system in my car, I started to think about other vehicles this would suit, like caravans, food trucks and boats – I started to meet with people who owned these sorts of vehicles and asking questions. Most owners said they couldn’t justify buying a security system for their vehicle if it didn’t incorporate vehicle tracking.

“I met members of the AJAX team at SecTech in Melbourne in 2024 and after some discussions Ajax decided to grant me access to their technology allowing me to make a tracking device that would work with their system,” Kilaris said.

“I then started learning how to code in python and with some help created a working solution, got some prototype PCBs made and after 3 working prototypes the Trace module was ready.”

“Next, I sent out demo modules to wholesalers to beta test and invested a lot of time and funds into getting my first batch of Trace 4G GPS modules ready for SecTech 2025 and with the huge help of DAS was able to showcase the Trace 4G GPS module on the DAS stand through all the states with lots of interest.”

You can chat with Kilaris and check out the Trace 4G GPS module on the DAS stand at SecTech Perth this Tuesday, May 27 – register here – learn more about Trace By Tested here or read more SEN news here.
