Verkada Secures FedRAMP As Cloud Security Push Sharpens – Verkada has secured FedRAMP Moderate Authorization for its Command cloud video platform.

According to the company, this strengthens its position in high-security, compliance-driven environments where cloud video solutions are beginning to gain ground.

The certification allows federal agencies and contractors to deploy Verkada’s platform via AWS GovCloud – this is a U.S. initiative remember – with full remote management of devices, users and sites ó removing the need for on-prem infrastructure.

FedRAMP forces a level of IT security discipline that many physical security platforms still struggle to meet. Verkada’s platform is built around Zero Trust principles, including centralized identity management, single sign-on, multi-factor authentication and role-based access control, along with encryption in transit and at rest, audit logging and controlled support access.

Achieving FedRAMP Moderate Authorization is an important milestone as we continue to modernize physical security infrastructure for organizations with stringent compliance and security standards, said Jon Andersen, Federal chief information security officer at Verkada.

The platform also supports FIPS 140-validated cameras and aligns with a range of international standards including ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2, positioning it for environments where IT and physical security are tightly coupled.

For the broader market – including the ANZ market – this reflects a clear shift. Physical security is increasingly expected to meet the same cybersecurity standards as IT systems – particularly in government and critical infrastructure.

Verkada will be showcasing its platform at SecTech Roadshow this month – SecTech is in Melbourne today May 19, Adelaide May 21 and Perth May 26 – giving local integrators and end users a closer look at how cloud-managed, compliance-driven security can be deployed in practice.
