Avigilon Alta Smart Hub 16-Door Controller Features Integrated Power And Cloud Management.
Avigilon Alta Smart Hub 16-Door Controller – Avigilon has released the Alta Smart Hub 16-door controller, a large-format access control panel designed to manage up to 16 doors with integrated power, expansion capability and cloud-based management.
The Smart Hub combines an Access Control Core, a pair of 8-port expansion boards and a power supply within a single enclosure, supporting up to 16 readers and 16 door relays rated at 5A at 24V DC. The system also provides 16 request-to-exit inputs and 16 contact sensor inputs with end-of-line monitoring, along with additional auxiliary inputs and outputs for extended system integration.
From a control perspective, all entry decisions are made locally by the Avigilon Access Control Core, supporting secure operation even in the event of network disruption. Communications between the hub and readers are handled over RS-485, while the system connects to network infrastructure via Ethernet for configuration, monitoring and cloud services.

Expansion capability is central to the design, with configurable auxiliary I/O and support for additional sensors, devices and Wiegand interfaces. This allows the system to scale within a plant room, riser or communications cabinet environment, supporting a single floor or a larger distributed deployment.
Power is integrated into the enclosure, with selectable 12V DC or 24V DC output supporting locking hardware and field devices. The system is built around LifeSafety Power modules, delivering up to 10A at 24V or 20A at 12V, with support for battery backup to maintain operation during power loss. All this power is there to support serious stuff.
From a security perspective, the platform incorporates encryption across communications and supports cloud-based management, enabling remote configuration, diagnostics and monitoring. The system is designed to operate within a unified identity environment, with integration into broader access control, visitor management and enterprise systems.
Operationally, the Smart Hub provides real-time monitoring and diagnostics, allowing installers and operators to identify faults, manage devices and maintain system performance without requiring site attendance. The plug-and-play design and large enclosure support straightforward installation and cable management.
The system is designed for enterprise environments requiring multi-door control with integrated power, local decision-making and cloud-based management, including commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, education campuses and critical infrastructure.
The Alta Smart Hub is supplied under part number SYS-16ENT-DVE6 and is delivered with enclosure, power supply and expansion boards, with the Access Control Core supplied separately.
