Port of Townsville Seeks CCTV And Access Control Maintenance And Upgrade.

Port of Townsville Seeks CCTV And Access Control – Port of Townsville has released a tender for the maintenance, support and upgrade of its electronic security systems, covering a large and operationally complex port environment in North Queensland.

The scope includes ongoing support for CCTV, video management systems, access control, vehicle gates and supporting infrastructure across operational, leased and third-party managed areas. The contract is structured to deliver preventative maintenance, system optimisation and upgrade capability, rather than purely reactive service.

From an operational perspective, the requirement reflects the scale and criticality of the port environment. The Port of Townsville is one of northern Australia’s largest and most important trade hubs, handling more than 8 million tonnes of cargo annually and supporting over 1000 vessel movements each year. The port includes multiple berths across a wide geographic footprint, servicing bulk commodities, general cargo and containerised freight.

The site also supports continuous heavy vehicle movement, with significant volumes of truck traffic moving through gatehouses and internal road networks to support import and export operations. This creates a need for integrated access control, vehicle management and surveillance systems capable of operating reliably across a high-throughput, safety-critical environment.

From a security standpoint, systems are required to support asset protection, personnel safety, regulatory compliance and operational continuity across a very large site. This includes monitoring of critical infrastructure, control of vehicle and personnel access, and integration with broader operational systems.

Port of Townsville Limited operates as a key logistics gateway for North Queensland, supporting mining, agriculture, defence and regional supply chains. The scale and diversity of operations require security systems that are both resilient and adaptable, with the ability to support continuous operations in a dynamic environment.

This tender closes July 10 – you can learn more here or read more SEN news here.
