Power And Water Corp Seeks Physical Security Covering People, Assets And Critical Infrastructure Across the Northern Territory.
Power And Water Corp Seeks Physical Security – Power and Water Corporation has gone to tender seeking an enterprise-wide physical protective security capability uplift program covering people, assets and critical infrastructure across the Northern Territory.
The scope of works seeks to establish a consistent, risk-based approach to physical protective security aligned with legislative obligations, organisational risk and industry best practice.
The potential scope of the program is significant given the breadth and geographic spread of Power and Water’s operations. The Northern Territory Government-owned corporation transmits and distributes electricity and provides water and wastewater services across the Territory, while also supplying gas. Its operations extend across approximately 1.3 million square kilometres.
Power and Water is the Northern Territory’s sole electricity network service provider and is responsible for transmission and distribution infrastructure including poles, powerlines, substations and meters.
Its 3 regulated electricity networks cover Darwin-Katherine, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek, delivering transmission and distribution services to around 71,200 residential and 11,300 non-residential customers.
The corporation also operates water supply and wastewater infrastructure, including major dams, groundwater supplies, treatment facilities and water and sewerage pipelines. Its water operations extend across major and minor urban centres as well as remote communities.
Through its not-for-profit subsidiary Indigenous Essential Services, Power and Water also supports electricity, water and sewerage services in 72 remote communities across the Territory.
In remote areas it also undertakes electricity generation, distribution and retail functions, creating a geographically dispersed portfolio of essential infrastructure.
Power and Water also has gas operations, including ownership and maintenance of gas pipeline assets and management of wholesale gas supply and transportation arrangements serving electricity generators and large businesses.
This mix of electricity networks, substations, water and wastewater infrastructure, remote generation assets, communications and operational facilities, along with assets and people, suggests this physical security uplift program will be significant.
This Power And Water Corp Seeks Physical Security tender closes at 2pm on September 11, 2026. You can learn more here or read more SEN news here.
