PYGUARD Door & Sensor Monitor With LTE-M

PYGUARD Door & Sensor Monitor With LTE-M For Remote Security Applications.

PYGUARD Door & Sensor Monitor With LTE-M – PYGUARD, made by high end access control manufacturer, Steinbach & Vollmann GmbH, delivers electronic status monitoring of doors and external sensors using low-cost LTE-M IoT SIMs, NB-IoT or 410-450MHz radio communications.

The monitor reports changes in the status of a door or connected sensor to PYSUITE software, allowing remote monitoring of entry points across secured areas when an electronics access control system has not been installed.

PYGUARD’s integrated reed contact provides door status monitoring, while an external input supports pulse or changeover contacts from devices including gas and fault detectors. PYGUARD also monitors tamper and battery status, with events available through PYSUITE or the PYAPP application.

The PY9053 version incorporates an external antenna connected by a 3m cable and SMA connector, allowing the antenna to be positioned independently of the monitor where radio conditions or the installation location require it.

How it reports backThree ways to reach PYSUITE, no cablingPYGUARD is built to run without an access control system on site. The path it uses depends on coverage and cost at the location — not which one is fitted.LTE-MLOW-COST IOT SIMNB-IoTNARROWBAND CELLULAR410–450MHZLICENSED RADIOPYSUITEMONITORING PLATFORM
Why it matters: most electronic monitoring assumes an access control system is already on site to carry the alert. PYGUARD is built for the opposite case — doors, gates or standalone sensors that have nothing else installed — so the reporting path has to be the thing that is fitted, not the network. Diagram is schematic; coverage and suitability of each path are site-specific and not stated in this release.

The unit has an ABS enclosure, screw-on fixing and an operating temperature range of -20C to 65C, with relative humidity rated to 95 per cent. The enclosure is rated IP65 against dust and water though STUV only claims a rating of IP54 for the overall system, likely to cover use of that SMA connector mentioned earlier.

Batteries deliver a service life of up to 5 years before replacement, while an optional 230V mains connection can be used with rechargeable battery backup.

Two ratings, one product
The enclosure and the system as a whole are not rated the same, and the article says so plainly.
IP65Enclosure
IP54System, per STUV
Likely reasonThe lower system rating most likely accounts for the external antenna and its SMA connector on the PY9053 — a penetration the sealed enclosure alone does not have. This reading is SEN’s, not a statement from STUV.
If dust and water ingress matters for the installation, specify to the lower, system-level IP54 figure rather than the enclosure’s IP65 — and confirm with STUV before relying on either for an outdoor or exposed application.
