Why Is The Alarm.com ADC-V530 A Smart Play

Why Is The Alarm.com ADC-V530 A Smart Play – It’s An Indoor Camera That Protects Privacy.

Why Is The Alarm.com ADC-V530 A Smart Play – For years there’s been a gap in the indoor CCTV market – plenty of cameras are good at watching but none let people switch that watching off.

For end users – and this applies to our own system at SEN – the only way to manage internal cameras is to turn them around to face the wall or to cover them up.

Now, according to Stanley El Komala, senior product manager at BGW Technologies, the ADC-V530 has become the first indoor camera on the Alarm.com platform with a motorised shutter that physically closes over the lens.

“It’s not a software toggle it’s a real physical barrier – when it’s shut, there’s nothing to capture,” El Komala explains.

The resolution is the difference between footage that identifies someone and footage that only proves someone was there. The integrated spotlight gives colour at night instead of grey infrared, and lights on detected movement so it deters as well as illuminates.

“For installers that removes the single biggest objection against indoor camera sales. Importantly, Alarm.com has listened and now the customer who doesn’t want to be monitored when they are at home, at their desk or in a consulting room, can shutter the camera for privacy.”

El Komala says that what makes the camera so practical, is remote control.

“The shutter can be driven from the app, a button on the device, or automatically off the system’s arm state; closed when disarmed or when armed stay open, when armed away or when in alarm mode,” he explains.

“Installers set it once at commissioning and it just operates as designed. That’s the perfect pitch for residential, aged care, allied health, childcare and small businesses. There is now an option for monitoring when the user is away from their space, and, they can also have genuine privacy when they want it.”

According to El Komala, while the shutter is what everyone pays attention to, the camera’s optical capabilities also stack up.

“The picture quality is good,” he says. “At 4MP HDR (2688 x 1520) you get about twice the detail of the 1080p cameras that are being used in many installs.

“This is important because it can mean the difference between footage that identifies someone and footage that just proves someone was there. It also has a built-in spotlight, which means you get colour at night instead of the standard grey from the infrared. Plus, it lights up when the camera detects movement, so it works as a deterrent as well as an illuminator.

"The analytics add to the benefits of ADC-V530 camera too, it can differentiate movement from people to animals to vehicles, which cuts down the nuisance alerts that inevitably lead end users to muting their systems," El Komala says.

"Alarm.com’s ADC-V530 also offers dual-band Wi-Fi, a wired Ethernet option and onboard microSD recording, but the bigger reason to look at it is the platform behind it, ADC-V530 runs on Alarm.com, so it's monitored and it talks to the rest of the system."

The ADC-V530 is in stock at BGW Technologies and it’s well worth a look if privacy is proving a barrier to your domestic CCTV sales. You can reach out to your local BGW Technologies branch to learn more here or read more SEN news here.
