New Hikvision G3P 8MP Panoramic Camera Covers 180 Degrees And Features Smart Hybrid Light, HikAI-ISP And Integrated Active Deterrence.
New Hikvision G3P 8MP Panoramic Camera – Hikvision has released its new-generation G3P Series, including the DS-2CD2387G3P-LIS2UY/SL 8MP panoramic ColorVu fixed turret network camera.
The G3P 8MP features a 182.6-degree horizontal field of view, ColorVu 3.0, Smart Hybrid Light, HikAI-ISP and integrated active deterrence.
It achieves this monster range thanks to a pair of 1/2.5-inch progressive scan CMOS sensors each delivering a maximum resolution of 4256 x 1888 pixels with 2.8mm fixed focal length lenses featuring a very fast aperture of F1.0.
Part of Hikvision’s ColorVu 3.0 range, the camera incorporates HikAI-ISP image processing, 130dB WDR and Smart Hybrid Light. Minimum illumination is 0.0005 lux at F1.0 with AGC on, falling to 0 lux with supplementary lighting operating.
There’s 30 metres of white and IR illumination that can be configured to deliver IR, white light or hybrid operation according to the application.
The DS-2CD2387G3P-LIS2UY/SL supports H.265, H.264, H.264+ and H.265+ compression and delivers its maximum 4256 x 1888 resolution at up to 20fps.
Analytics include deep learning-based person and vehicle classification, allowing the camera to distinguish intrusion from general scene movement.
Active deterrence is integrated into the camera, with a strobe light, built-in speaker and audio alarm that can be activated by configured detection events. The speaker produces up to 110dB at 10cm, while arrayed dual microphones incorporate environmental noise filtering.
DORI numbers show detection range is 62m, observation is 24m, recognition is 12m and identification is 6m.
For external installations, the DS-2CD2387G3P-LIS2UY/SL has an aluminium housing with IP67 protection against dust and water ingress and a NEMA 4X anti-corrosion rating. Client support includes iVMS-4200, Hik-Connect and HikCentral.

Questions & AnswersHikvision G3P: what installers are asking
How far away can the G3P actually identify a face?
Six metres. The 62m figure is detection — enough pixels to know something is there. Observation is 24m, recognition 12m and identification 6m. Spec the mounting position against the task the client actually needs at that spot, not against the headline range.
Can one G3P replace several fixed cameras?
Across a wide, shallow scene, often yes — 182.6 degrees horizontal by 74.6 vertical covers a car park face, a shopfront or a building elevation from a single position and a single cable run. Depth is where it stops: at 6m identification, long approaches still need a dedicated camera.
Will it hold colour at night, or does it flip to mono?
It’s a ColorVu 3.0 camera, so colour is the design intent. Minimum colour illumination is 0.0005 lux at F1.0 with AGC on, dropping to 0 lux once supplementary lighting is running. The F1.0 aperture and HikAI-ISP processing do the heavy lifting before any light is switched on.
What is Smart Hybrid Light and when would I use each mode?
The camera carries both white light and IR to 30m and can run either alone or in hybrid. IR suits sites where visible light would be intrusive or a nuisance to neighbours; white light suits sites where colour detail and a visible deterrent matter; hybrid trades between the two on event.
How does the active deterrence work?
Strobe, built-in speaker and audio alarm are integrated into the camera and fire on configured detection events, so no external siren or relay wiring is needed. The speaker delivers up to 110dB at 10cm. Dual arrayed microphones with environmental noise filtering handle audio in.
Will it cut down false alarms on a busy site?
Deep learning classification separates people and vehicles from general scene movement, so foliage, weather and animals are far less likely to trigger a response. Over a 182-degree scene that matters more than usual — a wide field of view sees a lot of motion that isn’t a threat.
Is it suitable for coastal or industrial sites?
The housing is aluminium with IP67 dust and water ingress protection and a NEMA 4X anti-corrosion rating, which is the rating to look for on salt-air and washdown installations.
What records it, and where do I buy one?
Client support covers iVMS-4200, Hik-Connect and HikCentral, with microSD edge storage to 512GB for standalone or failover recording. Stock is available through local Hikvision distributors including CSD.
