What To See At SecTech Roadshow This May!
What To See At SecTech Roadshow – SecTech Roadshow kicks off in Brisbane today May 8 at 12pm – pre-register here!
For most security people around Australia, SecTech is their annual opportunity to get a look at all the latest security technologies in a single afternoon – SecTech is approachable, too, which means you can see more gear and spend more time speaking with the right people.
There are several key areas SecTech visitors should be trying to get across, as well as lashings of new products on show. Since May 2024, most VMS and SMS solutions have been upgraded, delivering new features most of you won’t have seen before.
Analytics was a highlight at ISC West in Las Vegas recently but like cybersecurity and cloud functionalities, the power of analytics can be applied to any solution – that might be management software or a capable edge device. Which will predominate is anybody’s guess – likely both and everything in between.

Access control is interesting this year. Gallagher has released a bunch of new stuff lately – we’re interested in the QuickSwitch device, as well as OneLink – this is on top of newer variations on the new C7000 controller, as well as Gallagher SMB. Gallagher has also just released Command Centre v9.30, with strong enhancements. Gallagher might not be bringing all this kit to SecTech but you Gallagher dealers should ask them about it!

VSP is bringing Axon to SecTech – this is an important release for the company, which has built its business model on supplying quality video surveillance solutions to a strong customer list. The company started looking at access control after years of customer requests for full solutions and Axon is a solid choice that covers most SMB applications and is at once robust, proven and affordable.
Something else installers and integrators should be looking at this year is hattrix from ISCS. Over in the U.S. hattrix has been establishing itself as the leading cloud access control solution for decades. Australia – and New Zealand too – are different markets – but the time is well and truly ripe for cloud access control. The key thing with hattrix is that it’s not just a system, it’s a proven business model. Don’t miss it.
While we’re talking about cloud access, something to chase up on at SecTech is BioStar Air (formerly Airfob) from MOCA Systems that’s distributed by the Security Alliance, which includes Zankap (NSW), NAS (QLD), SDA (WA) and NSS (VIC).

BioStar Air seems like the ultimate expression of access control as an edge device with a cloud native architecture, multiple credential options including face and mobile, no servers, controllers, or VPNs required, smart reader edge-based operation and multi-site central management. It’s lovely looking hardware, too. Check it out. n
Seadan and Sprint are also showing access control with the Astuto access control range, featuring high-level encrypted Bluetooth readers, ISO cards, and key tags. Designed for fast and confident rollouts, Astuto solutions include site-specific encryption for maximum security as well as flexible, open-format options. We’ve never seen Astuto and we’re looking forward to learning more. Seadan and Sprint are also bringing Nemesis high-performance access control hardware including illuminated and touchless exit buttons from the EVAQ Series.

We’re looking forward to seeing Inner Range’s new 7-inch Inception Touchscreen Terminal. Inner Range has also just released a bunch of new Integriti integrations, which will make building out Integriti with HID and Aiphone readers and intercoms faster, this latter includes updated integration plugins to incorporate more features from the Aiphone IX and IXG solutions – that’s cloud intercom.
Alarms is another area of interest. The latest from Ajax, including Curtain Outdoor Jeweller and more, will be available on a number of stands. There are some key new releases there, including the new Ajax doorbell. Meanwhile, BGW Technologies will be showing the new Paradox M25, a solution that’s touted as a game changer in the security and home automation market, as well as the proven Qolsys IQ 4 offering.

DAS is bringing the latest Aritech gear to SecTech, including Discovery V2.0 and the latest version of WMS Pro software. DAS also mentions some “new Tecom hardware” in its SecTech promo that sounds very interesting to us – something to keep an eye out for on the DAS stand.

There are other manufacturers and distributors showing alarms gear at SecTech. We’re interested in the latest from U-Prox, as well as finding out more about Dahua’s growing Airshield alarm system and the capable Hikvision AX solution with its camera zones.
Still on the alarms side Seadan and Sprint have compact motion detection options like the CAMO 360° PIR, which is one of the smallest detectors on the market – ideal for recessed applications. We’re also interested in the Qolsys IQ Power Manage at SecTech.
Something else that’s new to us is Konec, an Australian provider of simplified home automation technology that will be showing on the SecuSafe stand. Konec’s smart home products are designed to make home automation technology more accessible for Australian consumers – that’s sounds like it has real potential for Australian security installers.
When it comes to CCTV, there are clever new cameras from TP-Link designed for real world applications that require extreme robustness and situational awareness. Dahua is bringing its latest Wizcolor cameras, which combine solid feature sets, long range in low light and competitive pricing.

EOS will be showing Hanwha Vision’s PNM-C32084RQZ, a state-of-the-art 4-channel multi-directional AI surveillance camera delivering 360 degrees of coverage with 4K resolution and advanced AI analytics. Powered by the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX for edge AI, object detection, and classification, this camera took home a best product award at ISC West – well worth a look.
EOS will also be showing Hanwha’s AIB-800 box, which turns traditional non-AI cameras into AI-powered security solutions with no rewiring and no recurring fees – neat.

Then there’s Ouster LiDAR Sensor with Gemini Software, also from EOS. Ouster’s high-performance LiDAR sensors provide 360-degree detection, real-time object tracking, and perimeter security with movement detection up to 200m (radius). Is it alarms or CCTV? Check it out on the EOS stand and decide for yourself!

Meanwhile, Hikvision will be showing its latest 7-technologies PTZ cameras, the AcuSense K series and DeepinMind NVRs with new AcuSearch, which uses the latest AI technology to pinpoint relevant video clips with greater speed and accuracy. This is one the neat new applications of analytics installers should track down at SecTech this year. Other products of interest from Hikvision include the TandemVu ANPR camera and the latest ColorVu3 cameras.

Still with CCTV, VSP will be showing the latest cameras from Axis – that includes the new Q1728 block camera, which is designed to deliver clever analytics for multiple applications, the compact and powerful Axis-M5000 PTZ with three 5MP sensors and the P3748-PLVE panoramic camera.
As we all know, Axis makes nice cameras, and its engineers never stop wracking their brains to stay 1 step ahead of the competition – usually with considerable success. The Q1728 and the M5000 are of particular interest to us at SecTech this year.
It combines alarms and CCTV, but SMC’s video verification and video patrol solutions sound well worth a look in SecTech Brisbane. Video is gold when it comes to supporting alarm monitoring.
There are bunch of intercom products we like – the new Aiphone gear, Akuvox from a number of distributors. Of note for government types is the custom made 8057 X6_v2 IP Cell Intercom from Stentofon Australia, which uses PoE to provide simple and effective TV control and cell communication between officers and detainees. Features include HD voice quality, open duplex, active noise cancellation, and a Class D amplifier.

SecTech exhibitors bringing their latest security products and technologies around Australia include TVT, Seadan Security and Electronics and Sprint Intercom and Security, SMC, Hikvision, TP-Link, Dicker Data DAS, Traka/ASSA ABLOY, Stentofon Australia, ICT, Gallagher, Dahua, VSP, BGWT, Bluechip, EOS, CR Kennedy, Security Alliance Australia, Secusafe, Aiphone, Allegion, ISCS, Inner Range, HID, and U-Prox – see all the latest gear in your home town this May!

Brisbane opens this Thursday at the Royal International Convention Centre (RICC) at 12pm and SecTech then heads to Rosehill Gardens Exhibition Centre on May 15, opens in Melbourne at the MCEC on May 20, hits the Adelaide Showgrounds on May 22, then we drive over for to Perth Crown for May 27.
