TE Papa Tongarewa, the Place of Treasures, in Wellington NZ, has closed a tender for services to manage and maintain security cameras at the 4 Te Papa buildings at Cable Street, Tory Street, Jepsen Grove and Titahi Bay.

The contract included management of the access control of doors, windows and automated fire panels at Cable Street, Tory Street and Jepsen Grove, as well as maintenance of automatic sliding doors and roller doors at Cable Street and Tory Street and Jepsen Grove.

Wellington-based integrator Red Wolf High Level Security replaced older CCTV cameras around the Te Papa building on Cable St with new high definition units from Bosch quite recently, including multiple Autodome PTZs, and it’s a virtual certainty the access control solution at the site is Gallagher.

Te Papa
Serious bollard install. Nice work on the Bosch AutoDome top centre by Red Wolf techs – there are multiple PTZs installed high on this complex structure.

Te Papa Tongarewa is New Zealand’s national museum and was designed by Jasmax Architects and built by Fletcher Construction at a cost of $NZ300 million. Te Papa’s History Collection includes many dresses and textiles, the oldest of which date back to the 16th century. The museum’s Pacific Collection includes about 13,000 historic and contemporary items from the Pacific Islands.

The museum, which draws nearly 2 million visitors each year and has a visitor record of 35,000 in one day, is a complex site with plenty of public space and major roads flowing around it, as well as a foreshore perimeter. New nature and environment sections are planned for development this year and these will also need to be covered by the electronic security solution.

The tender closed February 15.
